iMAS Doc

iMAS-Doc is a document image management software aimed at helping acquisition, storage and retrieval of documents in an office. This manual is intended to serve as User Guide for the first time users. Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows operating system, digital image formats and storage is assumed for effective usage of the system.

Need for document imaging
Business practices today involve handling variety of transaction documents, contracts, MOU, etc. and are being used as part of an enterprise wide information management initiative. Organizations are constantly watching for efficiency and resort to cost cutting methods to stay in business. Thus one needs to effectively track business documents to make critical decisions.

DOCUMENT SOURCE

Document Scanner
Scanner is a very useful device in capturing manuscripts, signed printed documents and photographs. Images thus captured are in formats such as ‘BMP’, ‘JPEG’ or ‘Tiff’.

Import Image Files
iMAS-Doc allows the user to documents images from external sources (Hard Disk, USB, etc).

MS Office applications
iMAS-Doc can absorb word, excel files through plug-ins provided by iMAS-Doc. These documents are also stored along with documents acquired through other sources.

Other applications
It is possible to acquire documents which are output by other software applications such as AutoCad, EditPad, etc.

STORAGE

iMAS-Doc puts in a central repository the document files acquired by any one of the above mentioned input modes.

DOCUMENT IMAGE GALLARY

iMAS-Doc allows the user to access a document identified by its thumbnail. Image gallery displayed by the system helps to review a specific page of a document. Thumbnails of the document images can be stored in a database with links to actual document image files.

iMAS-Doc connects to database system (Microsoft SQL Server) for data storage and retrieval. Document header contains useful information about the document such as acquit ion date, document type or classification, document category, etc. These details are stored in the database with link to the image file (the link is stored in the database).

RETRIEVAL

iMAS-Doc can retrieve retinal images by using
"Quick Search” based on specified document-id, document number, etc.
"Filtered Search" for a range of document-ids, acquisition dates, etc.
